Title: MK5 Alarm Malfunction
Post by: arnie2629 on 29 December 2010, 19:57
Hi,
Can anyone help please? Have just one key for my MK5 GTi and think the battery is on it's way out.  How do I disable the alarm if my remote fails before I get the chance to replace the battery?

Any ideas?

Thanks

Why would the battery fail?

Surely the keyfob battery charges as the car is driven? So just go on a decent drive for more than thirty minutes. If there's any other issues, you have to consider that it may not be the battery.

Manually unlocking the drivers door with the correct key should disable the alarm.
