Title: FAO Anyone with Chipped GT TDI
Post by: CBZS on 17 February 2005, 13:14
How do,

Getting my golf next month and think I'm gona get a 115 mainly down to advice given on here, dont wanna go past IG 10 so that leaves the 110 and 115 and although the 115 is harder to find and slightly more expensive, its the PD engine and has more tuning potential and also is slightly higher spec as standard (6 speed etc) so I believe it to be worth the extra effort and money.

However I have been making my way through the posts and have found a few references to clutch problems with these cars when chipped, howeer nobody has actually posted saying they have had this problem its all 'Ive heard that....' type stuff.

So my question is to anybody who has a 'chipped' GT TDI (pref 115 or 110) and is what type of remap did you go for(plug in box, live remap)? what type of bhp is it pushing out now? and have you had any major problems which you think have been caused by the cars extra power taking its toll on the components?

I realise the engine is gona work harder but most tuning people claim they keep everything within the limits. As I will be buying a car with around 50-60k on it I am worried of chipping it and needing a new clutch a month later ?:undecided:

Have a re-mapped PD150 by "Upsolute" Have the aggressive file which takes mine up to 200bhp with well over 300 pounds of torque  I do suffer from a slipping clutch when it is cold and also extra smoke as S11 EPS and JV will agree! Have not suffered or noticed any other problems with the fuel economy even rising (Till 18's were added the a loss of about 5mpg was noted). I say go for it as you won't regret it.
