can drive down the road fine, but soon as you boot it the gadge goes round to 130 + abit more + flames spitting out of the back of the old girl :(
Would this be the water pump? how much would i be looking at? Is it still ok to drive around but not boot it?

I would say so yes
Is there water recirculating into the header tank?
Are the bottom hoses on the Radiator cold?
Dont drive it no.
When was the cambelt last done? It will have to be removed to do the pump.

Yea the water is not going around, i left it to heat up to 90 you just get a load of bubbles like it is boiling in the engine.
I have been driving it around today it stays at 90. Will it makes more problems?

Yeah it wont do it any good at all! Dont drive it!
Pumps are around £35 IIRC
How old / how many miles has the cambelt done?

as Rich said tell tale sign is the lack of water coming back into the header tank
boiling water in the head is not good mate, don't drive it until you know it's ok...

MaXXeh: I thought i had a problem with waterpump so had it checked by VW after a good debated convo here :P Getting that done tomorrow so heres hoping its all good. Seein as i have spare cash i wont hurt getting it done. Anyways.. if ur looking to buy the waterpump, a genuine one is only £28.28. Now VW told me they were £80 odd and after me telling the boy on fone that there only £28.28 he looked and went "oh yes sorry mr beattie" so be aware that VW will try there best to f**k u off.
