Hi guys, been gettin quotes for a mk2 gti 16v, the insurance premiums has suddenly risen by around £800 in a week, a few days ago i got a quote for £1670 which wasnt too bad, a couple of days ago its gone up to £2400!!! and I still think its rising!! gutted as I may have to wait for it to go down again....... I'm 21 been driving for 3 years no NCB yet :(, insurance was quotedw on my name with to other named drivers.

insurance companys dont like young drivers its as simple as that ! as there more of a risk on the rd than older drivers ! what ever insurance firm u call wont make a huge difference it will still be expensive, but my advise to you is not to go with the firm you have been with for however many years as they will probly be one of the highest, shop about, go with someone new as they will more likely drop there pricese as they will want your buisiness/money, fill out the forms on compare the market.com or go compare.com and when searching for insurance do it on a thursday as they have targets to hit and apparently thursday is there deadline so thats when u will get the best discount. another idea might be to get your dad or mum to insure it in there name and you as a name driver,
good luck anyway

The original quote you got should still be active. Usually in the small print near the bottom it says something along the lines of "The quote provided will be valid for 28 days" or something. Im not sure on the legalities, but your first quote should be still active and you should be able to get it for that amount

£1670 is still alot of money ! keep looking you will get cheaper

In short German Cars = a Chance for some Bum R4pe for the insurance companies...
My Mk3 16v is £1400 but a Twin Turbo Toyota Supra is only £1600... We're in the wrong scene :D
And im 20 with 1 years no claims... Go figure!
Keep looking around though man, Give admiral a try direct, they seem to be good for younguns!

Just VW me thinks, my 8v is going to be about £460 to renew with mods declared, whereas an unmodified 2001 Audi S3 is only £600
