Title: Spec spotters needed
Post by: branchespark on 26 December 2010, 18:13
OK, all of you GTI and GTD spotters, can you help?

Look at these three GTDs for sale:

I would like to know which ones have leather and Xenons. It looks like two have the new LED rear lights, but I don't know my Xenons yet! Any optional extras?!

Show me how much you know!!

None of them have Xenons.

Cheapest one has cloth seats, the other two have leather.

Seem a bit dear at £29/£30k for the bottom two on that list though.

More info on the VW site. No Xenons and not enough off to forfeit the factory order. Still, shows there are options out there. Might have to source the RNS510, as that looks like a fab bit of kit.

What is the world coming to when it cost £30k for a secondhand Golf.........

The world has gone mad....

I agree - and, as am1 says, they're not even GTis. I could even get an R for that money and they're stupidly expensive too.

Car 3 has the RCD510 or the RNS510 can't quite make it out, but WTF one hell of a price for a diesel cruncher.

Think the GTD is dear, check what they're charging for a Golf Match FSI 115...

They are priced at that level because it's what people are willing to pay for them

You can spend well into the mid 30's on a golf GTD / GTI these days but you need to take account of the residuals

Please don't get into the discussion about residuals, thats a ball game that most people don't understand, as they work in % rather than pound notes lost.
I got into an argument many years ago with the mk5 GTI lot saying i would loose more pound notes on a mk5 GTI than we did on the SEAT cupra, but no one could understand it. As they could not grasp the concept of a high % residual of a high purchase price figure is still more pound notes lost than a low % residual of a low purchase price figure.
% residuals is a marketing tool produced by prestige car makes to make people think there product is worth paying extra for.

Agreed but my point is that if you buy a simillarly priced vauxhall, ford or even a similarly priced passat your committing residual suicide

But it depends if you pay list or near list. What happens if you get thousands off a ford but nothing off the VW. It may work out the VW costs you more in pound notes than the ford would for example.
