Not on PS2, played it to death and could never find the option, unless it was under my nose the whole time and I just never saw it lol.

Just watched the video there and I think it looks incredible.
Much better than the first one and it's good that you've got another island to play on.

The only gripe ive got with the game so far is the handling of FWD drives (only got a mk6 golf gti so far with fwd), there pretty tail happy in corners
-
I have being looking at this game and the reviews seem mixed! Is it worth me spending on this or get something else?
-
I might rent it and see what it's like

I'd say it's worth getting.
For me it is my favourite and a better game than Forza Motorsport 3.
Don't get me wrong on XBOX 360 for track racing, choice of cars and customisation Forza is still top of the class but TDU 2 offers a completely different side. It offers the freedom to pick any car you choose (in the game) and just go for a drive.
- The car list is relatively small but offers a wide enough range to keep interest. The game is going to rely quite a bit on DLC with new championships, vehicles and in game avatar options. Bikes will be making a return at a future date (confirmed by TDU developers) but it may be a while especially given the current server issues.
- Car customisation is included an takes place on several levels. Most notably there are no aftermarket options on any vehicles. Some might say FM3 is better in this respect. In TDU2 however you can customise you car at the dealership and change things like alloys, seats, dash and paint. Unfortunately however the options are limited per model so you can't have R8 wheels on an s3 for example. There is also a paint and sticker shop which does what the name suggests but, again compared to FM3, the cursor can be a little tricky at first.
- Life span wise the career mode is no where near as long as FM3 or GT5 but this game relies less on career mode and more on the social mode. For those that preordered there was a a casino option which will be released as public DLC soon. This adds a fun change of pace to the game. The online challenges and online free roam however are where this game excels.
- Performance tuning is available but nothing to get your hopes up for. By way of example a Mk6 GTI with maximum tune develops 230bhp and remains limited to 155 mph (for now) so you can't really take a car and go wild with the tuning. Broadly speaking car's will remain in their original class despite tuning.
- The music in game is fantastic. The radio stations are very cheesy but there is a decent selection of music from DeadMau5, Paul Van Dyk, Oakenfold and the like for cruising with a healthy offering of adrenalin pumping rock for the blasting off road
- The house system is similar to the first and, although allowing some customisation, doesn't offer the full Sims style customisation. Wallpaper, floor and furniture is all that can be changed. Aspects such as layout and appliances are all fixed.
There are some niggles just now with the servers which they are doing their best to fix but apart from that the game is spot on for me.
Apologies if I've missed out some aspects of the game. On the whole it is very good and with the coming DLC it promises to get even better (and more expensive)

Forgot to comment on the handling.
This is much improved over the first game. In TDU1 there was no difference between the AWD and RWD physics engines in the game with the result that it was all to easy to spin out cars like the Golf R32.
TDU2 has really changed this. Some on here have mentioned that FWD models like the GTI are tail happy in high speed cornering. For some this is annoying but for me it helps the player feel that these sporty hatch backs are light, agile and willing to be chucked about. Approaching a long right hander in a GTI at around 110 mph and lifting off just as you turn will get the back end out quite nicely but it is all easily controllable.
4wd models such as the Subaru and Bugatti Veyron simply have grip. There is no other way to put it. The Subaru is also special in that it is the only car (that I have driven) that performs well both on and off road. The rest of the cars (excluding SUVs) are slowed off road to reflect their tarmac performance design.
The weather also influences handling now to a more enjoyable extent. Rain is a greater concern to those in Caterhams for example as the slick tyres begin to aquaplane and skid.
The only complaint about the game is the inability to drift smoothly. It takes a lot of patience and concentration to hold a full speed slide around a corner in the game and even then it is more likely luck than wilful mastery of the car. It is certainly not driftable like FM3.
Hope this helps,

I might rent it and see what it's like
I forgot you was a renter boy
game have emailed me an offer which if i buy it at £39.99 they will gaurantee trade in of £35 for 3 months (so 3 months play for under £5!)

The caterhams r probably the worst cars in the game not for acceleration or speed but just if u cut a corner too much and hit the curb it will send you flying

This is true but great fun to drive
I HATE how the Golf handles though (like you've already mentioned). Oversteers like a thingy.
