well how gutted am i..!!! paid 10K for my stunning red gti a few month ago, only on 68k serviced every 10k well looked after golf, like all my vw,s in the past.
Anyway went out today to drop off some presents for my family & friends not far an the car juggered abit,
within the next min or so the car was misfiring like mad drove home o.k but never been so gutted in all my life..!!!!
Any feed back would be great, just to put my mind at rest.

Coil pack? Any fault codes?

cheers mate, engine mangement is on, not got a fault finder myself just have to get it to vw now after xmas. just dont wont to drive it to be honest/

Sounds very much like a coil pack TBH. Very Easy fix if it is, need to scan it first - i would take it to a VW specialist as a VW dealer will rip you off :smiley:

thanks again mate. hope it is a easy fix. really like the car just dont expect a 10k car to let you down like that. my old mk4 gt tdi was bulletprove....!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sounds like a coilpack. Check all the coilpacks by removing each one, whichever one doesn't make a difference is at fault.

cheers mate, had a friend of mine plug is fault finder in an its saying one cylinder down, he said coil pack to, should i change them all the same time to avoid this happening again?

I'd buy 2, change one and keep another in the boot as a spare :afro:

Change one and keep one as a spare.
I've had new cars that have cost well in excess of 50k with worse faults than this so please don't beat yourself up :-)
