2. Fan is making a squeaky noise when its set to face vent
Any advice on above will be great, should be taking it too vw soon but heads up would be great before I get bluffed.

The rear side rattle may be the parcel shelf rubber strings.(With rubber/plastic balls at the bottom)
When the boot is closed they hang down and you can sometimes hear them when going over bumps or around corners at speed.
Or is the noise different?

Could be this?!? (http://www.my-gti.com/2337/rear-seat-noise-rattling-clicking-and-squeaking-in-volkswagen-golf)

It may also be the decorative strips on the door rattling. I thought mine had a rear rattle but it turned out to be the doors.

Heres a video of it.
The door catches can also rattle.
The rear hatch catch is also know to work itself loose.
The rear suspension bushes have been changed on a few too.
Rear hatch parcel shelf straps can knock off the sides.
The rear seat catches can rattle.
