I think I saw this advertised on next week's watchdog, but they were driving a car that couldn't break the speed limit.
If you ask me that's dangerous. what if you were overtaking a lorry and halfway past it someone appears in front of you. also behind you the gap you came out of was closed. because you can't speed up to pass the lorry before you have a head on and die. For the sake of another 10mph you could of overtaken the lorry perfectly.
Lets hope the police set the example with their fast responce cars lol. They'll never catch us 'drive by cable' cars
-
imagine if they fitted the device to your 1.8T
lets not give them ideas :lipsrsealed:
-
they can't. I've got drive by cable. the best way!
a bloke that makes custom brake kits for rally cars said he was driving a skoda with drive by wire and he was trying to leftfoot brake to warm the discs up. the car kept loosing power because it knew you had both pedals pressed.

I've seen something like this a while ago where there was GPS in the car and it knew what the speed limit was for all roads and the guy could never ever speed. Good in principle I suppose but not really practical for reasons that have already been said. :undecided:
-
My God, i'd rather get the bus than have a car that done that, bus would probably be quicker 4 once as well!!

there was a programme about speeding recently where amongst their stats of unacceptable behavior there was one along the lines of 78% of people think its acceptable to break the speed limit while overtaking, implying this was wrong. in the same programme a driver got stopped and warned for doing 33mph in a 30 as the road was a bit damp, the copper was going on about how he expected the driver to be doing around 27-28 in those conditions and next time he may do him for driving without due care and attention or some thing similar.
-
if you had a car that knew the speed limits and drove accordingly, it would be crazy!!! for starters i know i'd get bored and start thinking about other things instead of concentrating on the road. if you get some control taken away from you, you just drift off!
-
^^^ very true. would be a sad day if this does come about.
and theres nothing wrong with Mk3 8v's!!!!!!
