You'll need to upload to www.photobucket.com to upload pictures, then copy the IMG code :)

I doubt you have a MK3 golf Engine if it's running on K-Jet... If your engine looks like this, it will most likely be a 1.8 GTI engine from another MK1 which doesn't have a crank sensor.

Ok so you have a mk1 engine in a mk1 then  You have the typical K-jet fuelled GTI engine for your information.
I have to keep popping to your other post for more info on what you have done so far.... You mentioned that petrol is coming out of the 2 injectors that go below the spark plugs... there are none there, there are 5 in total, 4 at the back of the intake manifold (one of which Wayne was asking you to check for fuel) and one at the O/S of it (cold start valve)..... to help educate yourself a little before you do anything else, have a read and look at the pictures in this.. CLICK! (http://www.vwgolfmk1.org.uk/modules.php?name=Content&pa=showpage&pid=42) ... you will find it very useful!

K jet has no ecu, check all fuses and go from there.

I always though k-jets had ecus. Or is it just the mk2 k-jets that do?
Neway have you checked the wires from cold start valve and traced back. This is if fuses didn't help

Nope no ecu on 8v's, it is a mechanical based system, very simple.
I believe the 16v had a ecu however
-
I knew it was mechanical based just wondered for 8valves as my 16 does have one be it very basic.

im not 100 % sure but i think ive found a relay that gose to the thermo i think just need to get a relay and find out for sure if you peeps have any more ideas would be great cheers mark

Does it?... You're not confusing this for an ECU are you?

Yeh doesn't run much. Got about 6wires going in to it via a plug. Ans shaun I always spell your name wrong and you've never corrected me.

It's just a transducer that varies output voltage to the sparks... Does not manage any timing or fueling like an ECU would.
I never notice, I get it all the time.
-
Ahhh is that why there is a green knob on it that turns. Always wondered what that was used for and well I'll try and spell it right from now.

Hmmm, don't think so... there is no human adjustment on it... not sure what you are looking at.

Scuttle panel left hand side. Ecu holder as its been called. With the big box underneath and there's a strange green knob next to my vacuum pipe that turns. Don't know if it acyually does anything though as I turned it and turned it back. Just to be safe when I originally put the engine in.
