Any1 used these on the 1.8T ? Gains pros and cons....
-
never heard of it!
-
hummmm i thought dastek was quite widely known  any 1else ?
-
most of us on here go for a ecu remap not a plug in jobbie from what i can see using google, cant see what is wrong with it tho, at least you can take it with you if im correct in saying
-
yeah its sort of stand alone i think and is remapped on the rollers to your exact mods an engine spec etc
-
Yeah standalone, theoretically, you could map the car to be able to use atmospheric BOV's effectively?? but telling it not to account for air already taken. So i have been informed of standalone systems anywho
-
just get ya car mapped piggy back chips are sh!te..
-
my brothers got it on his mark 1 cammed etc zetec s.....worked wonders on that made 148bhp after being mapped....is that true about getting it mapped to run a full on bov ?

Mine does anyway, although everyone would argue its not right, mines fine
-
you run a full on BOV do u mate ? what one ? i was looking at the hks ssqv i think its called

you got a vid ?

even tho dave says you can you cant.. speak to anyone ask Nick at RTech.. its not good for the engine as the standard turbo on a 1.8t is a recirculating turbo and if you stop it recirculating your losing power.. i would rather loose the sound and gain power wouldnt you ?? and no you cant map a 1.8t to run a BOV... the only way you could run one is to run a atmospheric turbo like t28 etc...

ohhh rite....i did try a split r but it was poo........have you herd of the hsk one i was onna bout ment to operate differently to other bov s isnt it ?
-
i dont think hks still produce the ssqv do they ?? you can buy it and make it fully recirc which is the same as a forge one lol save money as the hks one is silly expensive and get the forge one..
-
yeah they do the ssqv 3 for about 130 ish
-
Uploading now, dv26 or dv30 has twin piston and works on my AGU. May create a lilttle bit more lag as turbo isnt being recirculated, but mine will be staying until stage 2
-
dave stop being tight and get a 007p

Wonder how many comments to remove it
-
agreed it sounds nice but function before form for me !!
-
sounds mint mate
-
Rubbish, you can run an atmospheric BOV, if the car has been mapped not to account for recirculated air, i've seen it done plenty of times on both golf's and a3's.
There's a vid of a mk2 with a 1.8t lump in it and standalone management on youtube.

got a link for it ?

im running a twin piston bov on my agu and its been fine upto now with no noticeable power drops but i dont know what it will be like when i map it and as for the chip will id just get a proper map itll be much better fella
-
Its not a chip , it is a proper remapp it plugs on to ur ecu then you get it custom mapped on a rolling road thas y I was wondering if it would be better than r tec etc

Remap is still the best option.
-
I guess it depends on who does the mapping and how well they know VAG engines...
Have you got anyone in mind to do the mapping??
-
A place called got boost near me. CommeNt above....WHY ? Would a remap be better
-
A place called got boost next to a local race track near me. CommeNt above....WHY ? Would a remap be better
I think a remap is the better all round choice.

They REVO dealers aren't they?
Tried and tested and there are hundreds of cars running without any problems. Think they got an offer on of £100 off all remaps too
-
Cool! So you reckon they could do a revo custom map onto that dastek unit coz surely a map on the rollers to suit my engine would get more gains wouldn't it ?

Why would you map that chip? REVO remaps your existing ECU...........
-
:undecided: not sure really just thought as its sort of a stand alone management getting it mapped on rollers would give better gains

Need to read a up on things mate
All you need is your existing ECU and a competent tuner whether that be R-Tech, REVO, etc etc
A decent tuner will check over the car for faults. If all''s ok then the map will be loaded and then road tested or rolling roaded
Then you go home with a big happy grin on your face
-
happy days ill give em a ring in the new yr then
