If you are looking into the engine bay, tuched away in the left hand corner next to the pip that runs from the airbox to the Throttle body is a cylindrical thing with 2 multipin connectors, one attatching to the pipe mentioned. This things has rubber tubes running out of it. Mine is made by Siemens.
Can anyone tell me what it is because if I disconnect one of the plugs on it that seems to correct my runninig problems.

can u post a pic?
i think its the charcoal cannister, it collects fuel vapour from the tank, so it doesn't escape into the atmosphere.

HAvent got a pick im afraid, would this affect the running of the engine???

The item you?re talking about is called a purge valve. Basically what it does is sucks unburnt fuel vapours from the charcoal canister which is mounted underneath the airbox and puts them back into the engine via a series of connecting pipes. Theres not really much that can go wrong with them other than the valve getting damaged and causing a massive air leak as I have personally found out
