quick question i have a full conversion from a mk2 golf that has just been crashed at the back and just needs reshelling. just a thought but what would be involved to fit a mk1 shell instead? is there much work involved? cheers

Wiring, engine mounts, fuel tank, front susp as the mk1 is on a subframe whilst a mk1 is not plus much more.
Major work.

You could get the mk2 engine working in the mk1 all ok but the rest of the car would be a ballache.

nothing will fit running gear wise, all totally different underneath. only bit which is any use really is the engineand the radiator, thats about the only thing that will fit from mk2 into mk1. oh and the front seats
