Title: Bottom radiator hose keeps poping off!!
Post by: dubdub69 on 18 December 2010, 23:25
Hi
Don't know if anybody has had this problem but my car keeps blowing the bottom rad hose off
it happend today while trying to battle through the snow
this is the second time it has done it

my car is a 2001 aum golf 1.8t with a rtech stage 1 map
the car never over heats the waterpump and cambelt were replaced about 3000 miles ago
the heater work in the car the water flows back into headertank and fans work
but I have noticed sometimes the temprature on the gauge sits below 90

I did a sniff test to check the headgasket and that shows no problems
The bottom rad hose was replaced as I thought it was a weak clamp or air in the system
I am going to replace the thermostat  and temp sender as it's the cheapest option
just can't see it being the headgasket as I don't drive it hard and it pops off even when not on boost
please help as I am losing faith in my dub
:)

Have you tried a new clip if so sounds like the system has too much pressure.

Yeah I replaced the bottom hose clip.
Just bought a new thermostat, expansion tank cap
fan switch ,temp sensor and g12 coolant going to drain the system after Christmas
fingers crossed.
Can headgaskets blow that easily on a golf turbo as I heard they are a strong engine
it has only done 70000 miles

very unlikely its the head gasket would think its just a blockage
