Title: another suspension question

Right I'm going to be getting the valver back out in the spring. Current setup comprises of hottuning coilovers and mk3  top mounts. I opted for coilovers due to the fact I'm running 16 inch alloys and have a heavy lpg tank in the boot.  So it was easy to get the correct ride height.  However I'm fed up with the firm ride and want to go back to shocks and springs. I have a set of koni shocks which appear ok springs are not good so would like some advice on which springs to choose. Or should I just opt for a new setup. Any help or recommendations greatly apreciated :smiley

Koni + eibach FTW.

Get MK3 ones to cope with the extra weight.

I was looking too - gave up and bought another car!

Your choice of good (cheaper) shocks is actually fairly limited. The Koni's are about £130 per corner IIRC. I was looking at a nice Eibach+Koni set up around £6-700.

Ive got the shocks so just need the springs. just want it to sit right otherwise i'm wasting my money

RJ reckoned the MK3 front mounts raised the front by 10mm, and the weight in the rear may really bu**er up the height there too. So its a risky manoeuvre removing the coilies.

Id vote for the Eibach springs too. Venom motorsport seemed to be the cheapest when I got some recently. But keep the coilies and be prepared to take a loss selling the springs on ebay if it looks odd!

Due to the extra weight in the rear I was thinking maybe the mk3 springs would be best. Eibach do a 30 mm drop in these.

would think mk2 front, mk3 rear to try to keep the front down. But thats not really a kit option!

I did read the mk3 mounts raised the car, but it didnt seem to on mine. well, maybe a small amount but i think that was more to do with the old ones being buggered than anything! certainly wasnt as much as 10mm anyway

Surely if you measure how far down your coilovers are you can then order springs to match and it will sit the same as it does now.
