Title: Just ordered this.

I still have a stock Turboback. When getting my car MOT do they check for Cats? The AWE Downpipe has a high flow cat. Would that pass?

Yes it propably would pass an mot no problem at all with a high flow cat but the MOT is not the be all and end all to whats law on the road. As i keep saying on the mk5 forum theres a slight issue with VOSA if your stopped for a random check and they want to get picky as it does not have a catalyst converter that was type approved with the car anymore this is a little know about law that was brought in for models after a certain time 2001 iirc (I could be way out on the date) even alot of dealers don't know about it or parts companies.

You like the colour (Tornado Red) or the wheels or the overall combination?
I like the colour, like the wheels but don't like the red rims.

I miss Kev too. He is such a spicy, spunky chick with a petit bottom (his words).

Cars look so much better without a front number plate.

Front and rear?

Most cars are designed without a front plate then get a plinth "glued on" at the end not many are designed without a place for a rear so I'd say front only

Bigger turbo, with all the sh!te needed to make it work. Gives you more power, the possibility of 147 extra donkeys if the figures arent drawn out of a hat

Ohhhh noticed you bought this on the other golf forum! Very jealous!! Look an awesome piece of kit! Do you flash the ECU yourself or need to take it to a APR dealer? Shame AWESOME GTI and APR had to split up!

How much did you pay all in mate?

It was $2400 USD shipped to me.So about 1600 GBP.  I have to send my ECU to NY to get flashed(US Spec GTIs are encrypted the EU 2011s will start to be also)

It basically turns the GTI into a Stage II R.

1600 quid is great!

Seems odd that you need to send your ECU away, why cant they send the file to your local APR dealer and they flash it on?

Because i will be  the "tester" for flashing an encrypted ECU in the UK.Awesoem has done 1.
Some shops have killed ECUs doing it and I dont want to take my chances.
