Title: Electrical Problem Mk2 ABF
Post by: mike.c1979 on 16 December 2010, 00:03
Hi

Had my mk2 ABF a couple of weeks and when it has been stood for a while it is hesitant to start then bursts into life.

It sounds as though the battery is losing power.

I have tested the alternator and it is running at 15, the battery last thing at nigh and first thing in the morning is putting out 12.40.

I have cleaned all of the engine earths and insulated any areas that needed patching up.

I think I may have a problem with my starter motor but could do with some opinions please?

Cheers in advance.

next time try a jump start, if its better then you know tis the battery or a voltage drain. if its the same, then check the starter and the battery wiring

power drains  top favorets

1 or more interior lights left on  , glove box, boot ect
incorrectly wired radio ( disconnect )
crap power hungery radio ( disconnect )
amplifyers on permantly ( pull fuse )
car alarm
blown alternator dioed ( disconnect alternator and see if it stops daring battery  ( don't run enigne with alternator disconencted or it'll die ))
