ive read about staying away from budget coilover kits. the rear shocks need doing on my 16v. i have no idea when it was last done or what it is currently riding on. im looking to spend 250- 300 on a set of either coilovers or a spring shock combo.
ive seen a few on ebay but am very unsure about shelling out for any of the kits below

can anyone recommend any of the brands or at least a good one. i know all the name branded gear is going to be expensive, its either this or just replace the shocks all round
thanks

Weitec GT usually comes recommended.
Stay away from all coil overs - anything good isn't remotely in your budget.

the Weitec GT seem good value for money. ive skim read through ur suspension thread ben, if u werent selling ur mk2 what were u leaning toward??
i know ur budget was higher so were any decent coilovers in ur prize rangw?

I honestly wouldn't buy coilovers again - even the really high end stuff isn't comfortable (just a lot more durable).
The only thing that scared me about springs+shocks is losing the ability to set stance, but the comfort and longevity you get by comparison far exceeds that.
Cheap coilovers won't last more than 12 months - the ride quality deteriorates from day 1.

Look at Boge Turbo's from GSF and Eibach springs..
Fine on the rear and stick to OEM on the front... as Ben says Coils are crap at the money you are looking at... I fitted G60 OEM shocks and Eibach springs to the front after the Boge front inserts leaked... After a month...
-
I have the Boge Turbo kit from GSF. No complaints from me. I even got it for £125.
Maybee they took pity on me and gave me big discount. Or maybe it was the several hundred pounds I had already spent there.
Lol.

Yeah I paid that sort of money for all 4 plus the Eibach springs...
BUT I would not fit the front ones again... The inserts are CR4P.... Buy OEM G60 struts whilst you can... Not that much dearer
-
Inserts? What inserts?
-
Fronts... They fit into the OEM shocker housing..
-
Being a bit thick sorry.
All I had was the shocks and springs. No inserty things. What exactly are you referring to?
-
on some struts, they are 2 parts. A housing and insert. The shock being a little tube that threads into the housing.
Some are sealed, which means the housing and insert is 1 piece.
-
There we go. Having only bought and fitted 2 lots of shocks then obviously mine were sealed. Hence the silly question.
Well you learn something new every day.
Thanks.

What makes you say they are crap, I have never had any issues with inserts, main thing is to put a tiny amount of used engine oil in the housing first as it stops the insert rattling around.
