I went to my local scrapyard today to get some parts for my Polo and who should I bump into? Pete (alias ridgers)
What a small world it is. Picked up a replacement rim and gearshift gaitor for ?10
Pete found it very amusing watching me clambering over the cars to get to a Polo for my bits lol

Think i need to go to a few scrappies next week to see wot bargains i can find, oh and which forum members I can bump into

Many a bargain to be found
One of the Polo rims was badly kerbed, managed to get a replacement one and a steering gaitor for a tenner

Ahh the local scrapyard many a fun time was had clambering over a stack of 4 cars good stuff in my book, and theres about 6 within 25 miles of me...
That the polo you bought last newark?
-
No I haven't driven it since I bought it. The guy I bought it from was banned and had already been stopped twice subsequently so it was a 'marked' car. Dare not drive it until it is totally legal which means replacing that rim, new rear box and a handbrake cable. Thats all it should need for the MOT
Plan to use it for some of the shows this year, however, I have a feeling that when the weather improves I'll be digging the cabrio out afterall

Scrappies, mans best friend!!!
Havent you noticed how the weather is always crap when your down one??

I go to Aldershot car spares. Its a very modern 'european legislation' scrap yard where every car is on computer and they are properly stacked on huge racks. When you need a part from particular car they fork lift it down to an area where you are allowed to work on it. I can nearly always get what I want from there at a good price. Failing that there is another scrap yards 100yds further down the road which is more conventional and there are quite a few mk2 16V's in there with engines manifold's gearbox's everything still intact! The guy in there is very friendly and let me have my gearshift gaitor for free  If there is still no joy in that one there is another one about a mile away called Normandy car spares
So with three to chose from it's usually worth a trip down there to see whats new. I always pop in when passing

Anyone know of any around the east end of london .
Need to get some new switches and stuff for my mark 3
