Title: No Auxiliary Plug on my 2007 GTI
Post by: bigdavelamb on 14 December 2010, 10:25
HI

I have just bought a 2007 GTI with the MFD2 Satnav and 6 cd changer in the arm rest. However there is no Aux plug anywhere, I have looked round the internet and it is supposedly in the glove box, but nothing there. What is the best method to hook up an Auxiliary so I can plug in my blackberry.

Also there is no bluetooth but I have the multifunction steering wheel with the phone button, any info on how to get this hooked up as well.

Thanks for any info!

Dave

Have you got an arm rest? My Aux socket was low down on the front of the arm rest. If you don't have one, worth looking at MDI rather than Aux (though not 100% sure MDI works with Blackberry).

Thanks for the reply, I do have an armrest but it's not there. Not sure what MDI is? But I just ordered a Jabra CRUISER2 which does it all via bluetooth and clips to the visor.

you defo wont have bluetooth and aux plug was an option.

MDI is a like a £250 option, was availble from around 2009, poss fit to 07 car in armrest.

Aux plug an option! How tight are they, must cost them all of 50 pence to put it in as standard.

As I understood it, The CD changer is connected via the aux input on the head unit. So you can't have the changer and an iPod at the same time. If you remove the changer from the arm rest, there might be a way of changing the connector to something suitable for your Blackberry.

I could be wrong!

Aux input wasn't even an option for the 2007 model year. You could have either the 6 CD changer, the Ipod connection or the USB connection in the arm rest.
If I remember correctly the USB connection was withdrawn in 2007.

it is sometime in glovebox on pre 2007 cars

i'm looking at a 2006 car today - if i buy it i will be retrofitting the Aux in myself.

It's not difficult.

Need plug for radio and socket - i was planning on fitting it to one of the blanks next to gear stick

socket .......http://cpc.farnell.com/1/1/24912-3-5mm-jack-socket-stereo-mj-073h.html

plug part number is 3B7 035 447 B

i did this to my Octavia VRS when i retrofitted MFD2

Need to buy 3 metal crimps for plug if wiring does not exist in car loom already

mine is fitted.

easy.....hardest bit was getting trims off around radio.

Now has socket in switch blank next to gearstick.  Cost me less than £10 for parts
