Alright chaps.
I'm a mechanical biff HOWEVER I plan to change the spark plugs and filters on my 1.8 20v GTI this weekend. What's the worst that could happen!?!
Anyway, couple of pointers if anyone can help??
1. I took the cover off the top of the engine yesterday just for a look and the plugs looked a bit of a mare to get to? Do you just pull the caps off and get a long reach socket to remove them?
2. How do you get at the 2 filters? Air and pollen? Again I had a quick look and it looked like a load of pipes had to come off!!!?!?
3. Any other tips or downfalls to be aware of?
4. Recommendations for types of plugs or where to buy the filters etc?
Thanks chaps.
Hopefully your help will prevent my car being off the road for a month!!!
Wilko.

think the dealers is relativly cheep for filters ect.
have a search on here, a few threads recently asking how to do everything.
pollen filter is just a few screws, pull a bit of plastic back and out it comes. air filter again few screws take the lid off airbox and out it comes.
as i said though have a search and there is a few picture guides on hoe to do a service.

Buy a haynes manual mate...the jobs you want to do are very easy....ie. the filters all you need is a screwdriver. I used eurocar parts for pollen filter and psi tuning for a performance air filter. Plugs I havnt done yet but not a hard job.
