does anyone know how to get rid of the sloppy feel in the gear change linkage ive got a 1999 GTI 1.8 20v (AGN) non turbo and the gear lever feels really baggy... they sell gear shift repair kits on flea-bay but dont cover the gti model... anyone had and sorted this problem before? part numbers and links would help alot... thanks peeps

I have the same issue in my 1.8T AGU the gearstick wobbles loads even when in gear.
Though mine is also stiff to get into gear when cold! Its really annoying.
Thats a really good video although where about am i looking to find the part of the gear linkage in the engine bay? Is it easy to get to?

same as myn mate, the linkage is at the rigth hand side

Oh yeah i see it. I take it there is a cover over it. Its too cold and dark to go outside and have a check now :tongue:

just haven't had time to do it but its getting bad now going to sort soon i have a TDi [90] small engine more room so see/do things i can see it with out removing anything lol don't think it had a cover but you may have to remove your engine cover and air box but i am not 100% on that.
