On my mk2 It has had some welding done on the sills at the bottom which although done reasonably well is noticable, there is now a small hole on the passenger side half way down the sill. Obviously it needs to be welded however I have also noticed what I think are plastic side skirts on some golfs that run over these sills and are same thickness as plastics over arches which I would like to try and get hold of to keep the sills looking neat after welding. Anyone know where I can get these or are my eyes deceiving me in pictures and there are no standard skirts on cars?

They come on post 90 gti's- big bumper models.
I've had my sills repaired but the welder did a really neat job. A small skim of filler and you'd never know. My sills are body colour

Yeah I have to agree yours do look good, I will be honest I am currently trying to keep funding the golf low to be able to afford it, I can weld myself and reasonably but won't be completely seamless I do not think hence wanting side skirts, I have an 86 year with big bumpers so side skirts wouldnt look out of place, but will they fit? anyone know?

Yer they will fit can't see why they wouldn't mate would look nice

as long as its pretty flush you could add the pre-90 GTI vinyl stickers to the sills. on my driver i had a couple of patches welded in which wernt the neatest, but once some stonechip went over you could barely notice them. by non neat i mean the patch was welded on top of the sill rather than flush with the sill if you know what I mean

yep found some vinyls on a link from here £20 each side, you reckon reasonable price, how thick are they? I will weld flush just may not be neat so aslong as they have some thickness behind them it should cover ok...
