Title: Cabin Vibration
Post by: golfmk4owner on 10 December 2010, 18:29
Hi all! My GF's 1997 Polo has a rather harsh vibration in the cabin during idle, and all the posts ive searched through mention engine mounts but this had a new engine mount when it was sold so i cant see it being that?

-The vibration seems to be more at the back, it kind of rattles the back window
     - It goes when the throttle is feathered, but comes back at certain revs
     - It seems to be eating fuel (not sure if its related)
     - The steering wheel rattles when bringing the clutch up to move off

No idea if these are related but that info may help... any suggestion guys?
P.s. it drives otherwise well, idle is steady and acceleration is smooth

Steering wheel rattle when you being the pedal up is prolly clutch on the way out! My old civic did the same thing!

Check the mount that has been replaced, it might not of been tightened properly.

Ok guys gonna try and check the mounts tomorrow because somethings not right. How can i check if theres a problem without removing them first??

Also, what would cause it to do like 20mpg? i mean seriously, its a 1.4!!

A stab in the dark here, but anything to do with the exhaust?
