Post by: arwl1976 on 10 December 2010, 16:48

Hi guys im hoping you can help! Im trying to remove and replace the alternator on my mk3 2.0 GTi 8v. im hoping i can add some pictures here! i disconnected the battery and the electrical connector on the alternator

i have removed a bolt that was at the centre bottom of the alternator and im trying to remove this bolt at the top but it just seems to keep turning, am i doing anything wrong?

are there any other bolts i should be removing to get my alternator out?

many thanks in advance

you need to take the belt off 1st, slacken the alternator and the push it down as this will give enough space to get the belt of, disconnect the wires there might be another bolt same as the one your taking of. should pop out if it dont then gently hit it.  but wait for another reply as i might be wrong.

best to replace with same or if you want more juice (subs & amps) see if there is an option to upgrade it. just pop over to gsf or eurocarfarts and see what they say
