Title: Volksbits poor products?
Post by: acko on 13 February 2005, 19:52
Hey guys,

I ordered some side repeaters for a mk2 golf the other day from volksbits, after them sending me the wrong ones first time round they sent me my new crystal clear side repeaters. I went to fit them today and they don't fit. There are two plastic 'lugs' on the bulb holder from the wiring loom that slot into place in two grooves on the standard indicator female part. Anyway my shiny new indicators don't have any slots to accept these little lugs and so the bulb can not be secured into the side repeater. I suppose i could trim these lugs off the bulb holder but then they may not have a secure fittment in the indicator.

After paying ?15 for a set i would have expected them to be a straight swap with like for like products. Especially on a car such as the mk2 where these products have been available for years and with such a simple product. Very dissapointed in the quality of these parts from Volksbits. I was wondering what everyone elses experience was with volksbits and if aftermarket side repeaters often have this problem?

Cheers y'all

Acko

I have volkbits repeaters and mine fit perfectly. doesn't the bulb just push in there and the rubber cover hold it all in?

Just had a complete set of crystal lamps for the grill from Volksbits and all went in as expected, there are lot of little variations over the years for fitments with VW and hence sometimes you have these issues, I've had a few MK2's now and all have had slight changes in either design molds or fitments to the last.

Best Regards

Most of the stuff that I've bought off them has been good. My side repeaters fitted fine. the only product that I bought off them that wasn't much good was an alloy fuel cap that went rusty after about a month

Still went back to them and got my M3 lights, which have been great

Yup I had a similar problem with my Mk3 side repeaters.  I cant remember exactly what I had to do to get them to fit properly but it involved a stanley knife and a layer of rubber to stop it all shaking around.  Having said that I have bought other parts from them before without problems so there are probably just the odd bad products i expect..

i'm not going to diss them as i've never bought anything from them but looking at their stuff at shows it put me off them to be honest. they seemed to have a large quantity of cheaply made products amongst some good stuff. they seem pretty cheap which is normally a good thing but i think it just made me a bit dubious about the quality of some of the things they sell.

For mats, it has to be JUSTMATZ pure and simple, Dave & Jeremy they are boys for quality mats and much more..
