Title: Two Problems
Post by: Andy1 on 13 February 2005, 18:43
Problem One -I have just had the Timing belt changed by a friend (MKII) and now i have a strange sound when i change gear - sounds like a turbo kickin in.  Its also there when i accelarate (above2500 rpm).  Initially I thought its was the timing belt rubbing against the cover - took that off and nothin - its really pissing me off .

Problem Two.  Your gona love this one and I'm for real. When i turn left my heater fan makes a strange noise - sometimes when i have it on 1 or 2 setting it makes the same strange noise. Sounds like something is on the way out. :undecided:

problem 2 is common. it's the fan for the blowers. the design itself is all wrong. the bearing isn't helping in there.  you can either change the fan unit for one from a scrapper or try and lube the bearing

1. did you change the tensioner & also the water pump? new belts put extra wear on these so should really be changed at the same time as the belt

2. aye just take the heater motor out and remove the switch pack, then gett WD40 and spray it into the motor. turn it upside down and leave it for about 30mins to soak down

Replaced the tensioner but not the water pump - does this make a big difference?
