As per the title i was wondering if anyone knows how difficult it will be to repair a damaged sill? I was manouvering out of a car park space yesterday in the dark and didn't notice how close the pile of snow and ice was to the nearside of the car. Must have been pretty solid as it caused the car to pivot at the point of contact and the rear to slide out. Checked at the time and didn't notice any damage, however on closer inspection today it would appear that the plastic strip that runs along the sill has been forced against it causing the sill to bend inwards slightly.
I know there are mobile repair companies out there, but not sure if i should maybe take it to a proper body repair centre? Any advice welcome (re the repair, not my driving!!)

It will be a job for a proper body shop.

I use a very good dent man for damage like this.
Where are you based?
Any paint damage?
-
No paint damage at all. I'm in the Scottish Borders, but in Edinburgh frequently.

Sorry to hear of your mishap.
If the metal of the sill has been bent, then you will need the expertise of a dedicated body shop to fix this.
As for the plastic moulding, it is ridiculously overpriced, if I remember correctly. It is quite a large plastic part and covers quite a substantial area under the sill where it is fixed.
I wonder if you could post some pictures so that members in the know may be able to provide their opinions and comments.

Hi, i have exactly the same problem. My wife (now ex lol) somehow did it, the plastic is scuffed and the sill is dented in, no paint damage. i'm living in denial now as its reasonably unnoticable, but it is painful :( Keep us updated on your progress. Good luck.

Spoke to a reputable body shop who quoted £250 for the following work. Plastic panel removed, tack welds to affected part to allow it to be pulled out, small amount of filler to achieve perfect finish, prime and paint, heat plastic panel (in the event that it has been de-formed) and re-fit to car.
Damage is not particulary noticable, but my eyes are drawn to it as i know it's there. I think the price is reasonable for the work involved so i think i will get it booked in. Once repaired i can hopefully forget it ever happened

Good price that. Go for it tiger ASAP. Hope they can also sort the plastic moulding to perfection.

Not a bad price for that sort of repair Steve, sounds like they intend to be quite thorough, and for the money it probably isn't any more expensive than an excess payment on an insurance claim.

As above for the money I'd defiantly have it repaired. Its a small price to pay for your sanity! :)
