Title: Have I got a chance?
Post by: RedHP on 08 December 2010, 18:11
My 10 plate GiT was registered in July/August, it has the LED rear lights etc.
Anyhoo, the Sat Nav disc is V6.1 (2009), though some other 10/60 plate GTi's have V7 (2010).

I have sent my dealer an email insisting that I should be entitled to V7. I also mentioned that I am purchasing a brand new VW Polo SEL (1.2 including alot of extras)) for my wife next March.

I have no intention of paying for the Sat Nav software which I should have had in the first place, do you think they will get the hint from my purchase info above?
I bloody-well hope so, as I would have spent £43k with them in the space of 9 months !

As V7 is available, I don't see why they shouldn't. After all they upgrade ECU software for nothing (without even asking) so how is this different... Keep pushing them.

Good luck with that one. I was in the very same situation. Took delivery of a brand new 10 plate in July. They supplied V3. Was furious once I found out that the lastest one was 6.1. Sent them an email and called them to no avail. Usual bullsh*t about it was the disc VW supplied blah blah blah, which I seriously doubt! Probably old stock that they wanted to get rid off. Didn't bother chasing it up because I knew the V7 maps was coming out. Lucky for VW that I have it now, otherwise I would have been kicking a fuss.

I guess your advantage is you are about to buy another car from them. What I would do is not to put down the deposit on that Polo until you've secured a copy of V7 maps or at least some sort of guarantee. I'm sure they would give it to you especially like you say you're spending £43k with them.
