Title: RNS510 and Bluetooth install - South East(ish)
Post by: Alski on 08 December 2010, 09:27
Am getting my GTD next week and am going to retrofit RNS510 and VW Bluetooth. Have asked Darren if he can get to where car is at present to fit before they deliver, but if he can't then will buy the kit and will need an install in South East  - I live Guildford area and would be prepared to travel reasonable distance. Any idea's please !

Give Steve P a PM.  Not saying he will definetely able to fit, but he works in the Smoke.

I would assist, but live in the SW.

Have you considered doing it yourself?  It really is a 10 minute job.
Hardest part was finding the port that the VAG.COM lead plugged into

I saw that post and was interested, but a couple of things:

a) Is there a similar guide for Bluetooth and is it as easy

b) How would I get access to VAG.COM to get that bit done ?

Bluetooth is plug and play. Even the plugs can only go in one way so it is full proof.

I asked my dealer to enable the telephone on the car when they PDI checked it before I picked it up. That way it was already coded and worked. Its simply them selecting a button on their computer system so a 5 second job.
Ask them to "Enable telephone 77 on the CAN gateway"

I did though have to borrow a forum members cable for the day to code the RNS to work with the MFD and re enable the steering wheel buttons.

There are list of people willing to help out:

If Steve is willing to do It I can send the RNS and bluetooth to either him or yourself and then Steve can get it fitted for you.

I am down in London on Sunday but its only a flying stop.

Cheers

Darren

I don't know how much fitting the Fiscon kit I used differs from the OEM VW kit that Darren would supply you?

Dynaudio is not part of the headunit it's a separate amp and different speakers, the RNS-510 just needs coding to set the output levels for the Dynaudio.

So you just need the headunit and GPS aerial.

Suspect by tomorrow eve will be Darren's biggest fan. My car is being delivered from Lancs to Surrey tomorrow, Darren contacts me 3:30 today to enquire status on Nav & Btooth - suffice it to say that few txts and calls later he's travelled over an hour fitted both and therefore my GTD should turn up tomorrow with everything sorted- truly amazing. What a star !

Only thing is that so far seen neither car nor Darren's handiwork in the flesh, but not expecting any probs (fingers crossed). Update due tomorrow pm.

Al I think you will be really pleased with the car mate, the wheels look special against the carbon grey body work, the only thing I didn't manage to do was get the v7 maps on, so if you pm your address ill get them in the post for you,

It was a pleasure to work on your car mate and I hope you have some fun in it.

Cheers

Darren

p.s I was really pressured doing that install  but think it took me 30 mins to do the nav and BT

Works perfectly just couldn't get a nav signal in there workshop, it was like a big steel cage :undecided:

The disc is easy mate just pop it in and follow the on screen instructions, takes about an hour and then your good to go.

Cheers
