Title: NEW 2011 REG PLATE
Post by: WHITEY20 on 07 December 2010, 21:47
This morning was the release of the DVLA "11" series reg plates. I was ready at 8:30 to purchase my long awaited, ideal plate "WH11TEY". Unfortunately after hours of trying to access the site and log in, a well known registration company with initials RT and there super fast friggin' internet connection and advanced IT equipment bet my Spectrum 64 to the mark....gutted.
However I settled for second best and purchased "GT11ANS" ie "GTI IANS"  (oh and my first name is Ian). This numbbed the pain a little.
Now looking forward to March 2011.
Pics to follow soooooon!

It does make stealing and cloning a whole lot easier. In the past a thief would have to happen upon or look for a car of the same model and colour to get a "valid" number plate. Now all they have to do is trawl the forums.

So unless you want the police thinking it was you and your gti making a hasty getaway from that bank job, or speeding through that safety camera, I suggest you blank your number plate old boy!

I really don't know, never really bothered me if people know my plate.

As said, all car crime organisations has to do now is look on the internet. If they have your car and colour and see your plate on here your stuffed.

You wont be saying that when you get parking fines, speeding tickets and all matter of fines through the post. I really suggest you hide your plate when posting a picture. My sister had her TT cloned and it was a total nightmare to get sorted.

On a lighter note that sounds like a bloody nice plate

Cheers Alan, Wise words of wisdom. Its just a shame to have a plate like this and not be able to show it off on a site where other GTI enthusiasts would apprieciate it. Yeah I'd be gutted if I got a ticket , Cheers.
