it was mentioned on a different forum that the mk4 2.0 8v head cant be skimmed because the injecter rail is difficult to remove,
and once removed its even harder to refit.
is there any truth in this or is it compete bull.
-
Sounds ridiculous, what if the injector rail fails......
-
if it fails then its a sh!t job to replace lool
-
Anything is do-able, I love a challenge. Rise to it!

Cannot see it to be honest, I know someone that has replaced the hg and had the head skimmed all ok with no issues.

its the same engine as in he mk3 isnt it? if it is then its no worry
-
when i used to work at vw, i done the head gasket on a 2.0 8v with no problems. the head was sent away for skimming but i still had to strip the head down..
-
cheers guys, i kinda expected to hear what your saying.
i think my dads headgasket is on its way out as he can smell exhaust fumes coming through the vents when the blower is on.
will be stripping it down over xmas
-
before you strip it make sure it is the problem, conduct a sniff test or compression test. i've seen it so many times when some one just goes on a guess. and ends up with a different problem,, diagnose it first fella,, may save you money in the long run
-
will be getting a sniff test done this saturday to confirm it however it does use alittle water with no visable signs of a leak.
cheers
