Hi there, brand new to this (or any other) forum, but I've just become the very proud owner of an absolutely mint and totally original mk2 GTi 16v Big Bumper, 1991 'H' in Oak Green. Done 123k miles, but has full VAG history up until 90,000 and specialist service history to date. She's a beauty and all for £2.7k.
I dont have a big budget to 'do it up' nor do a I wish to do anything to it that will detract from its originality - but I was wondering, what is generally considered to be the first priority upgrade for a standard car to improve it?
I'm not fussed about getting loads more power, its difficult to know what is the best value upgrade for the money....
All original rainbow interio, immaculate paint, perfect BBS alloys... some people suggest bigger brakes, some suggest uprated suspension, others say bore it out to squeeze more power.... what to do?!!
thanks

welcome along :cool: me personally i would leave it as standard as possible just with some slight suspension tweeks and wheels as they are a very nice looking car as they are :smiley:

* Drop 40mm on a good suspension setup (Koni adjustable dampers and Eibach springs.
* Fully rebush the suspension and steering
* A decent set of tyres
* Full alignment
Welcome to hot hatch heaven!

Thanks - looks like the suspension is the way to go...
i've put 4 brand new lovely bridgestones on and had full wheel alignment and tracking done at the same time....
Dont want to mess around with engine so maybe just springs, shocks and possibly some bigger brakes it is!
thanks all

where's the best place for suspension mods?
Preferably in the South West area....?
Thanks!
Also, need to find a few old original parts such as gear knob, door leavers and dashboard switches... any recommendations apart from ebay???
