Hi Everyone,
I am looking to buy a Mark 4 Golf GTI 1.8T 2000 X reg. 142000 on the clock. Most of it looks like motorway miles.
Could anyone please let me know what are the things to look for and could go wrong with car?
What should i look for when i go for test drive?
Thank you in advance for the advice.
Thanks
Vasi

Hi GUYS
Thanks for all your inputs on buying guide, i am well pleased, i went and saw the car, i followed all you advice and check the card all around, everything was fine, However,
I opened the oil cap, i could see a cream colour on the cap, i know which could mean the engine is leaking water, but please do guy give me a comments about this. i have wiped the cream sludge on the cap and ran the car to bring to operating tem, then took it for a test drive, all the gear changes was ok, no knocking sound when turning the steering wheel,
Today i am going to check the car again to see if the oil cap has the same cream sludge on it, please give you thoughts on it.
Thank you in advance

cream doesn't mean its f**ked.. its probably not been on a proper run.. its where water condenses in the engine.. you would know if the head gasket was gone..
