Title: Gear box/Clutch problems Mk4 Golf?
Post by: Vikki on 03 December 2010, 06:29
I've currently got a MK4 Golf, had a new starter motor put in around August and since then its been running fine untill now

Its struggling to get into first gear even when double clutched and when changing from 1st to 2nd, its making like a crunching sound as if I havent got the clutch down? It makes this noise even when the car is stationary..

Dad has given it a quick look over and said pedal heights an oil level is okay too, so hes not to sure whats causing the problem?

Could it just be something like clutch drag or do you think the gear box is done in?

Any advice/help would be brilliant thankss :)

+1 old gearbox oil can cause some horrible noises and feel from the box. It could also be that the clutch needs bleeding (possibly the fluid changing too, it uses the brake fluid) or gear linkage needs adjusting.
