As the title says - fitted my old heated seats and interior into a mates car a few months back and was bamboozled by the fact that the junction box; you know, the one normally full of green and grey single pin conectors that normally lives avove the fusebox wasn't present. Can't imagine that all pre 95 cars never came with heated seats. So was there an early version with a junciton plate that was cunningly hidden elsewhere?
I have it on my car and another mate has it on his P plate but on the M plate I fitted the interior didn't have it and a previous '95 ABF I owned was also missing the junction box
-
they all have the junction boxes, just a case if figuring out where they are. sometimes clipped to the top of the fusebox, sometimes clipped to a plate above the steering column, or somewhere else hidden in the dash area. you will definitely have at least the black ignition live junction box, as this is required to power the clocks.
-
On closer inspection I definatly cant find the junction box im looking for its really weird i have the black ignition live junction box obviously! hmmmm im not sure what to do now!
-
Keep looking for it mate! Bet its there somewhere!
How much of the dash have you taken out?
-
Ummm to much lol!!!! simply cant find it and its bloody annoying only 1 connection stands in my way of it working!!!!!
-
just use the black junction block
-
but theres no connection that fits?
-
make it fit then!
all it needs is an ignition live feed, so get one from elsewhere ;)
-
Ok il take to my uncles hes a sparky he can work something out!
-
Mine is early car and the sane junction box is present but not in the normal location as I found out, I found mine behind the headlight switch area if memory serves me correct, took me ages to find them and everyone thought I was mad saying they were not where the late spec cars are, they are deffo their tho
-
Hmmmm maybe im seeing it and just not noticing im not 100% sure what im looking for im mainly going buy what the type of connection im looking for in reference to the wire i have 1 wire plugged in to the correct place and the other the larger connection i cnat find anywhere where it would go
-
Im also sure mine were different colour to late cars but dont take that for granted coz at the same time i fitted the heated seat loom i also fitted a whol new loom in my car so i could convert my rear windows to electric and this was a huge job, fusebox out bla bla took 3 days in total do do the whole lot and everything worked first time i tried - RESULT, i had posts on here on my old account (Kells) but i got banned and not sure how i search back my old threads
-
just remembered, the brown plugs into a massve round connector on the actual wall of the car, sort of where your door hinge is but inside the car above the fuse box, its quite big and loads of other earths are connected to it, u plug the brown into ANYfree spaces on this conector, the other 2 connectors u need are also in this area, its all coming back to me now lol
-
Lol il have another look this wknd i might just try plug it in anywhere see if it works lol!!! Btw when you gonna do my speedo lcd's i cant find anyone that can do it lol
-
are they the late type clocks u got?
-
Not sure mate ive got the blue screw in lights on it but its the actual lcd screens you know for mileage i dont know how to do them!
-
have the lcd screens got screw in bulbs too ???
-
No lol
-
Yep you have the ones i can do, like what iv got in mine by the sound of it
-
Mine had green, brown and grey connectors.
-
black wire with green plug is ign live, blue/grey wire with grey plug is lights on and brown wire with brown plug is earth.
as above the brown goes to a massive round earth wheel thingy near the fusebox, the other 2 go to the same colour jumper blocks which will be back there somewhere, just gotta find em! if you look at plug D on your fusebox all the jumper blocks get power from them so chase the wires from there and you'll get em eventually.
maybe take some pics of what you have, just in case its been bodged
