Hi guys, been looking everywhere but can't find out if it is true that the manual and DSG GTI have the same 0-60. If they do I find it odd as all other VAG DSG cars are quicker 0-60.
Thanks in advance.
Hope to buy a used DSG GTI this weekend ;o))

Hi mate, welcome to the forum.
The manufacturer 0-60 for a manual GTI is 6.9. I believe a DSG is always around 0.2 seconds faster according to VW so you are looking around 6.7 for a DSG car.
HOWEVER!
If you are looking on the internet then you may find figures as low as 6.0 seconds dead or as high as 7.2 seconds. There can be a huge variation. This is because there are too many variables. Road surface, fuel, tires (both make and pressure) (even maybe wheel size), weather conditions, weight of car (taking into account options and fuel and passengers) all affect the performance.
The biggest reason for variable however is the fact that most people go by their speedo.
I can almost guarantee you that you will get a faster time if you time it with your phone and your speedo but it's just not accurate.
If you want to get your time look at some sort of timing gear. There will be loads of advice on here about it.
Hope that helps

Official VW website says both gearboxes are 6.9 0-60 that is all!
P.S you really didn't look very hard did you?

Thanks for the reply mate, whilst I know 0-60 times are almost irrelevant in the real world they are quite a useful measure of a cars performance.
I have to say when I took the DSG demo out the other day I was quite impressed with it's real world performance much more useable than the Focus RS Mountune (350BHP) version I’d taken out the weekend before. Never before had I experienced torque steer at 80mph on a straight road in 5th gear!!! MENTAL
Look forward to getting my GTI and spamming this forum for advice.....

I saw that on their website but didnt belive it! as no other VAG DSG has the same performance as it's manual variant...

I haven't driven a dsg gti but i think it would 'feel' quicker without the momentary drop whilst changing gear, however i have no idea!
Welcome btw.

Mk6 GTI DSGs don't have Launch Control activated do they?
I find that without LC, DSG has a lag on initial take off..whereas a manual held on the biting point of the clutch, has no delay.
Then the manual has a delay whilst changing gear...whereas the DSG does not.
Overall, I think you'd be hard pushed to actually detect one being faster than the other, if such a gap actually exists in the real world.

The mk6 DSG GTI models do come with Launch Control but I only ever use it at the strip (and very rarely at the lights when I'm feeling evil).
To be honest it really comes down to the driver.

I believe the figures for the mk 5 0-60 DSG was 0.2 seconds quicker but in the spec for mk6 the same. Once you have DSG theres no going back. Love mine.
