Title: Boot Lock
Post by: Tazzy on 01 December 2010, 19:36
it seems that the key doesnt fit in the lock on my tailgate, guessing maybe the lock/handle has been changed, and with the ice tghe way it is, i dont want to be relying on the solenoid system just in case, as every car ive had, the coldness has knackered my lock

any ideas?

thanks

this is a common fault on mk4's its the leaking washer in the rear that jams evverything up.. the key will go in but not turn.. and sometimes the key wont even go in..

Your lucky mate.  My key wouldn't go in since purchase 4 years ago and now the solenoid has packed up.  These cars are made with very unreliable parts.  Only recently I changed the rear wiper motor, then the MAF sensor.  Oh and I've already changed all four window regulators.
