please state year of manufacture and mileage...just want a rough idea to how long these cars run for. I keep having small probs with my car and wondering whether it is worth still adding cash to keep it running.
-
51 late 62k
-
2000/X 88K
It depends on a number of factors though: regular servicing, motorway miles, thrashed or not etc etc....

no major problems, just bits need replacing, mainly bushes etc.
a car can run forever. its just do you stop spending good money maintaining a car because of its book value?

s plate 1.8t 20v
189k!
im only the 3rd owner-both previous owners never skrimped on any thing and it shows-the bodywork is brilliant (for that milage),just the odd stone chip on the bonnet really.
she pulls like a dream (still original turbo i think),its been run on fully synth oil for years, upgraded clutch, audi TT brakes front and rear.
id love to re-map it with a milteck exhaust, but im terrified of ruining what is a brilliant, but high milage, car by 'improving' the engine.
just had the gear linkage greased,as the gears are a tad notchy, mainly when cold,it seemed to cure it,but ive a feeling the box might be needing changing in the new year.
probably just completly jinxed her with that post now!!
-
Mines a 98 1.8T with 130000 and is the best tightest golf I've driven! Mileage is a bonus as it makes a car cheaper to buy!
-
1.4 16v (Unfortunately) 03 Plate 72000. FVWSH. Passed MOT every year first time. All good here. Only 1 previous Owner and she was from new. You wont believe this... She was actually a nun lol so i think mines is one of the lucky ones not been thrashed haha.
Roll on next summer when i can move up into the big engine world lol
-
2002 / 52 plate, 1.8t, 79000 miles, Fully documented history, Since owning it I have changed - Coolant temp sensor, Thermostat, Y shape breather

1999 - 60k. Since I bought it I've changed every bush under the car and a few other bits and bobs.
-

-
72,000niles - 1.8T Gti, R reg (1999)
No major problems, just window clips broke and TB failed, apart from that its been a star!
-
98 sreg 1.8t 137k engine replaced at 127k for a low mileage one with 49k had a problem with the oil pick up pipe hence the new engine

-

He does live on the Isle of Wight :lipsrsealed:
-
yup don't get to stretch the old girls legs much unfortunately
Motorways are a special treat
-
Mine is 01' and on 102k at the moment, changed everything from clutch to bushes...though wondering whether it's worth fixing passenger door not locking from driver's central locking, air con, and lack of boost spike (prob cost more than the car's worth) :undecided:
-
2000 on 84000 miles. had a couple of fault codes but nothing to mone about.
-
motorways are a treat for you.. god i live on them lol
-
2001 aum 102k replaced a few bits and pieces but the only major thing i had was the gearbox spilling its guts
-
Late 99 AGU remapped etc 141k, fine.. but I've spent cash so I know I can trust it :)
Drives like a car on half it's milage.
-
2002/51 on 77k.
Recent work - replace split breather pipe, replace indicator stalk, replace ball joint.
Hm, not the costs you'd want in the first 3 weeks of ownership..
-
when did someone say list what you've replaced lol ???
-
anyone touching 200k yet,, or know of anyone
-
1999 1.8T AGU. 172k. Had it from 150k. Everything works apart from drivers side heated seat!
-
