Hi Guys
Hoping someone can help, Ive lost my brake lights (All 3)
Ive had the Brake light switch taken out n tested with a multimeter and Im told that is not at fault! Ive also checked the fuses and thats ok, Checked the bulbs againwith a multimeter and again ok!
Can anyone suggest any other possible thing to check as I need brake lights!!
Cheers!!!

s far as i know the fuses in the fuse box are reversed so check all the fuses at that voltage..

Ok....Just one question, what does the fuse box being reversed mean?
Also I have power at the Brake Light switch so think fuses might be ok?
-
If the fuse was 2 down and 1 in it would be 2 down and one in from the opposite side if that makes sense ??
If the switch has power than im not sure have you googled it or used search function on here ??

Faulty wiring in a light cluster? :undecided:

I'd get a new switch anyway...

Ok I I'll give that a go it can't hurt, I think that that switch is stopping my cruise control
Working too!

Nail on head :afro:
Brake Light Switch is about £10 from the dealers

^ Yep - i fitted one a couple of months back for my MOT. There's a good guide over on VW Vortex however don't be put off by the paranoia over breaking the new switch when installing it as the one i got was an even newer revision than the one they mention and its fairly idiot proof to fit!

Nice one Rhyso
The part number i took into the dealers was 1J0 945 511 D but they said it had been superseded and IIRC they gave me revision "G". Said it was for a beetle/transporter on the little sticker but works fine.

So
Got the new brake light switch
The new part number has been changed and now starts 1C0 rather than 1J0(Mine is a 4 Pin BTW), The rest is the same as my original number, The unit itself is now dark green and a larger shape than the old switch. The plunger no longer requires manual setting! It is easy to fit, simply have the brake pedal at the normal height, Slot the switch into the bracket in the correct position (It will only fit one way properly) Twist it into place, Now, IMPORTANTLY, twist it a little furter and it will click, this activates the switch, if you do not do this it will not work!
So now all brake lights are ok. Great, Still, My Cruise control still maybe doesnt work. Can anyone tell me - is there a light on the dash showing the cruise control is on, do you need to be travelling over a certain speed to acivate it, Ive got up to 40mph in the snow but no faster, If it is not working still, maybe the clutch switch is also at fault?

yours an AGU?

My cruise control has stopped working, it was intermittent ever since my clutch pedal snapped lol.. I am thinking the clutch switch is dead... but what does that switch do? I would say my brake light switch is fine as all lights seem normal?
