can you tell me is the MK4 2.0 GTI belt or chain driven? im new to all this so help me out maaaaan!?

Every 4 years it should be replaced.

thanks, I've got some service history but from brand new it doesn't state a tick box of the toothed belt being changed, probably been thrashed to fcuk! how much should it cost to get it done?

£200ish vw charge £400 for belt and waterpump change

bloody hell i just got rid of a A4 2.5V6 which cost around the same, but i suppose it needs doing!  :cry:
