Title: Issue when running from cold 16v
Post by: xkaty_h on 29 November 2010, 21:28
My car's just come from an engine rebuild however, we could do with some help regarding the car when running from cold. It will hesitate quite a bit until warm, when fully warmed up this problem goes away and the engine pulls quite cleanly - although could perhaps be better at low revs, hard to say until its fully ran in though.

I understand the 16v uses a cold start valve and a 5th injector but wondered what else there is to check out and rule out while trying to trace the cause. Following the rebuild, the car has had new plugs, distributor cap and ignition leads etc.

Can any one shed any light on this?

p.s. Is a 1991 1.8 16v

could be an issue with the co and ignition timing, best to start by getting those reset as per the guides in the maintenance section.  ideally get the fuel pressures checked as this will tell you if there is an issue with the pump, metering head or the warm up regulator

Yeah have found those guides and shall be relaying it back to the OH who has the car at the moment.

Cheers for that.
