Title: bloody window regulater broke

it was so cold this morning, i scraped the windows and stupid me pushed the down button and POP!
the window went into the bottom of the door.

ive just ordered a complete regulater from ebay.
its my 1st time stripping the golf door. i cant believe how well put 2gether these things are.
the build quality is 1000 times better than my old ford

i bought a complete regulater as mine was fooked. all the cable unwound as was bent so bought the one above.

hope its a decent buy.

You know you need to rivet it into place on the door?

yeah, ill need to drill out the old one and re rivet the new one.

i presume it has to be riveted in place before you re attach the metal liner? no way of doing it once its fitted so i guess thats self explantary

Yeah i guess it just a matter of riveting it again. Ive only taken the whole plate out.

I have a spare door plate sitting here with regulator and motor for sale :tongue:

i thought the regulator was just screwed on?

either way you could always use screws instead of rivets, just make sure there not going to scratch the window when its taken down.

or were you talking about the runners at the side that are rivveted. if so then just use the runners that are inside, highly doubt they will have broke/bent.

the runners are riveted, they form part of the regulater.
all components together make a regulater other wise they are just parts of......

oh ok i get you now, i was thinking by regulator he ment the takeup wheel type thing was broke i see now. sorry and egnore me :D
