Your steering wheel cracks me up! Love the personal touch mate!
Quick question how much are you paying on that?
Just looked at insurance on a Mk2 GTi 16v and they want £2800 on my own... :'(
-
Insurance was £352 until this morning when I declared all the mods and agreed a valuation. It went up by £250 (ish). Not bad at all though as I was paying more on the Mark 4 2.0 8v I had. As for the steering wheel I did not like the blue and white VW badge on it so just had a vinyl done and thought the username was the best thing really as I use that name on all the forums
-
Sorry but I hate that steering wheel
Otherwise
-
I probably would not have included a shot of the forum sticker.
-
Very nice motor, wish I had a vr. Im afraid I have to agree about the steering wheel.  Otherwise, a sweet ride mofo.
-
Clean simple car, i like it. But as said not a fan of the steering wheel, VR6 Leather one or a MOMO team would look nice. :)

Cheers for the comments Guys....not too sure about the steering wheel yet but time will tell. Mikester....why would you not send the forum sticker pic ?? I have declared everything to my insurance company and can't see how it makes a difference. Or am I missing something ??

Yours plates are illegal.

Yours plates are illegal.
If you were able to look extremely closely yo would be able to see the BS number required. Granted the D badge is not allowed but everything else is ok and I have had these type of plates for some time now and have even been followed by the police with no problems yet (touchwood).
-
BS mark or not, even the font is illegal lol
-
my plates are totally wrong but i've never been pulled up on em......... looks good deano
-
Illegal plats FTW!!
That steering whell FTL!!
Standard steering wheel, touch up the engine bay and you got yourself a sweet ride!

Not sure which steering wheel yet but won't be a standard one I think and when the weather warms up a bit I will be making a start on getting the engine bay looking better. Why does noone like my steering wheel ??

They do, they're just called Corsa/Nova drivers!

......or Stevie Wonder :lipsrsealed:  Sorry mate.
-
I don;t mind the wheel too much tbh.Although the rust in the centre of them cs bolts is driving me crazy

Looks nice dean dont think it matters to much about the steering wheel if you like it then stick with it mate its your car  My Anniversary is more to insure than my old VR6 which I find Bizarre to be honest but then again Birmingham has the highest fraud claim rate in the country which is due to the B8 post code area which is why insurance is creeping back up.I think the 25th anni I have for sale is a group 20 due to it being a Anni.As for the euro plates there not worth the fine ive been pulled twice and luckly avoid the fine so I decided to go for the style in my sig picture and been pulled for them by some arsie plod who was pissed off I reakon as I spotted him in his unmarked Focus ST thingie. He gave me a form to get stamped at my local MOT station which I did then put them back on

How Bloody dare you compare me to a Nova/Corsa driver   I have been looking at the wheels on the net but not sure which one to go for. As for your insurance Blu Mate....you get what you pay for. There are loads more VR's on the road than Anni's which is probably why you pay more. At the end of the day good quality Anni's are getting rarer and rarer and for the insurance company to replace yours would not be cheap for them. As much as I love the VR I would defo be tempted to swap it for a nice clean Anni any day Buddy. As for the plates....I am sticking with them atm as they look good and so far have not attracted interested from Her Majesty's finest. I would gladly pay the 30 quid if needs be.

+1
No offense Dean, buddy. But they are illegal and it's only a matter of time before you get caught. I would personally take them off because I'm sure your insurance company (now having proof of the plates on) could use that against you in case of an accident.
-
But surely if the insurance company find these unacceptable then they will contact me and let me know this. I like the plates but not enough to void my insurance.

Worth remembering Dean after being caught twice they can apply to have you reg removed and replaced with a q plate.
I was warned after being fined the 2nd time.

I doubt they care right now, but once all the legal sh!t starts happening that's when they will. Also bare in mind that you know they are illegal, we know they are illegal, they do not meet standard UK regulations for two main reasons, font and badge. I'm just saying.
I ran German plates until I was pulled for them, £30 fine, or at least it would of been if it wasn't for me sucking up.
-
My comment was that I would be prepared to pay once if collared but I would not then keep them on and keep paying. I would like to keep them but not in exchange for a load of aggro. If the old bill do me for them or the insurance company say they must go then they will go. I ain't a fool that thinks I am above the law but sometimes the better things are outside the law and all I say is that I would be prepared to take the risk for the 30 quid fine once only. We will see what the outcome from the insurance company is.

hi deano, the car looks great. is the heater control a standard thing in a vr6 and would it work in a 8v gti?
thanks

The heater control is climatronic Mate which I believe is an optional extra on a VR6 but standard on a Highline. (I may be wrong but someone will confirm either way I'm sure) Would not go straight into a GTI as you would have to buy and install the complete system which I am told would cost a small fortune. Thanks for the comments on the car by the way Buddy
