can someone post up a pic of where this are underneath the car, i want to check them as i have slight play in steering cheers
-
if its a mk4, they are underneath the car on the main engine carrier. 2 per side, 4 in total. dont ahve a piccy to hand but if you get under there and follow the track rods back to the subframe it should be pretty obvious which ones they are :)
if its a mk2 or a mk3, you have 4 nuts accessible (just, with much swearing) from above

ok thanks bud it is a mk4, i done the wishbones recently and know that swearing is mandatory when working under there! Are the bolts on the top or underside of the subframe? And is possible that if I have play in steering this could be the cause?

they're on the underside as far as i can see, it could be they have worked loose but i would be looking at track rod ends maybe. ideally get someone to wiggle the steering while you watch the track rods to see if there is any play there. also watch the rack while they jiggle, you'll soon see if its moving about!
