Post by: chrismorby on 27 November 2010, 07:41
i have a mk3 agg 8v, can i put a bigger starter motor on as she struggles a bit with the cold (new battery, plugs & leads) may be from a diesel or vr6?

My old starter struggled a bit too, but a new starter and battery sorted that out immediately. Vr6 and 16v won't fit. not sure about diesel.

diesel and turbo diesel both have 020 box I beleive, if so yes they fit. TDI uses cable box, as does 16v and vr6, these motors will not fit.

however as above, check battery cables, battery and condition of starter. the oem starter should have no problems, i have a mk3 8v one on my abf mk2 and it has no problems turning it over
