golf not idleing properly been told will be egr valve any ideas advice would be much appreciated cheers

PCV valve, £12 for valve and housing from vw. its under the inlet manifold, check all the plastic and rubber hoses while your at it. mine was lump, replaced it all and it now ticks over smoothly.

i'm with jonnyturbo, i'd say throttle body clean.

check temp sensor, mine was crap until that was changed

Go for throttle body clean first as its the cheapest option and most likely.

I had the same problem.... 'coughing' when idle'ing and a bit jerky when your pulling off???

Disconnect the MAF and see if it makes a difference, u will get you traction cntrl light on and engine management but they will go once youve replaced the MAF (if thats what it is).
