Title: Forge Adjustable Actuator
Post by: simon20vt on 24 November 2010, 22:15
I'm due to replace my KO3s with another KO3s soon, and before i put it on, i'm thinking of changing to a forge actuator. Car will eventually be running with a turbo back jetex exhaust, panel filter, recirc valve and a map.

What difference is the forge adjustable actuator going to make with this set up? Whats the advantages to fitting it, what spring should i use, and world it be worth putting it on for a setup like this?

Would anyone also recommend changing the standard N75 valve (AUM engine code), if so which one would you go for?

Thanks

It's only really a bonus if the original is old and weak. Otherwise it's the same.....

would it not be possible to use it to increase the boost slightly/make the boost levels slightly higher than factory, or does it not make that much difference?

I think the n75 regulates the boost. My forge actuator opens at 21 psi but it's also regulated by other things. Give rtec a shout before spending £120 on a possibly unnecessary actuator.

will do buddy

which N75 valve you got on yours? how do you find it compared to the standard one

Just the original one. When I had my current map done, rtec fiddled about with the n75 to suit the forge actuator. It's the same as the original actuator it just opens to release boost and is shiny! It's clearly better than my old one as it's stronger but if my original wasn't knackered I wouldn't have changed it

Forge actuator is a LOT stronger if you have a different spring fitted to suit the map

so if its stronger than the original... what are the benefits, hold boost longer?

you will only notice the benefits when running higher boost due to a remap. If you running standard map then dont bother. Golfs arent like old cars where you can up the actuator for more boost as there is more involved to keep the car running safe and not running Lean.

i will be getting a map eventually, so i guess its worth putting it on the turbo, before i get the turbo fitted
