Title: buying a 1.8t tomorrow does this look ok?
Post by: person22 on 24 November 2010, 18:51
its 1999 1.8t , 82k miles, 1 owner, silver 5 door, mint condition, £1900.

does that sound about right? i took it for a drive and no obvious problems, i gather from reading up that the 1999 will be 150bhp, being my first golf i dont know how easy they r to get more power from in the future, how easily can u get  more than 150bhp from it ?

cheers

More power can be had easy. 180-210 depending on condition and engine model. Research remaps.

Not bad price that!

yeah i thought it was a good price too but it made me think twice because he has had it up for sale for a few weeks and its not sold, to be fair he has only recently dropped it to 1900 orignally he had it up for 2800, i cant afford a remap yet but its nice to know when i have some extra cash you can get a good amount more power from it

If you get a 1999 it will be an agu with a ko3 turbo i would be suprised if you get 210 bhp from it inless you fit a ko3s and map to suit. With a good map on an agu you are looking at 190bhp as long as its a good engine i think the agu s are the better engine i have a ko3s going on mine any week now!!!!!! if you want a map go to r-tech. Mines running 194bhp but it had a few mods now and cant do much more till the ko3s has gone on.

206bhp is a little optomistic on a turbo that doesnt enjoy much more than 195 peak.........
