I've just had a call from D.T.Motorsport to say my new rims will be in the post today.
I bought bare rims to cut down on postage and leave the tyre choice up to me, so now I have to decide what to go for. I'm looking for a nice grippy tyre with half decent performance in the wet, I don't use the car in the winter so performance in ice/snow isn't an issue.
I'm looking for 195/50 R15 tyres with a budget of ?60 each.
What would people recommend???
I was thinking perhaps of fuldas as I've heard they provide pretty good performance at a reasonable price.
Cheers
Toby

Cheapest place I found for any tyres was www.mytyres.co.uk (just bought 205 40 zr17 toyo proxes ts1's from there for ?66 each). They have the Fuldas you mentioned for ?39.20 each including VAT and delivery. The BF Goodrich's in the size you want are only ?61.90 , go on treat yourself

No one on here use yoko's? I run em on my mini and they are superb!

Cheers Toph I'll check that website out, are goodrichs the hounds then??? Everybody seems to rate them highly.
Horney you are right yokos are an extremely grippy tyre but due to the softness of the compound most people I know that have used them on the road only got about 10,000 miles out of 'em.
A guy I work with had them on his A6 2.8 quattro and said they were scary in the winter, back stepping out all over the place.

Hey there,
I just got 2 brand new Yokohama AVS sport with the mean lookin V tread pattern. They are on offer @ ?38 a corner from
http://www.motor-world.co.uk/kroozin/category.php?sub_cat_id=381
They offer outstanding performance in both the wet and dry truely the best tyre for the mk2 in my opinion

Cooool!
I need some new front tyres so I'll probably slap four yokos on when I get paid.
Thanks for the link.

Just ordered my tyres from mytyres.co.uk cheers for that link toph they are dirt cheap.
Went with toyo proxes in the end as they get really good reviews for dry weather grip, pretty good in the wet aswell and they are quieter than other more expensive brands, oh a you gotta love that tread pattern!!!
Bought 2 195/50 R15's and they were only ?31 each delivered!!! Reckon my tyres will be coming from mytyres from now on!!!

They are quality tyres Tobz....I doubt you will have any regrets. You were lucky to get some as a few weeks ago when I was tryig most places are selling out as the new TI-R are being introduced. In the end I had to go for some Kumhos, which are good tyres but by no means as good as the Toyos...yet to try them properly in the dry but in the wet they only ok. Mytyres is good but most fitters by me are cottoning onto the fact that people are buying tyres cheaper on the net and so they are putting their fitting prices up. I also found that mytyres prices go up and down more times than an amsterdam hookers nickers!!

I'm lucky a mate of mine works in a Tyre Centre so I get em fitted balanced and valved for free! Saves me loads as I get through a set of fronts on the mini every couple of months.
